My Essay to apply YLI (Young Leader Indonesia)

"You are the first and main people in this organization, all your happiness and sadness will affect this organization, include expression in your face", said the former leader of Student Cooperation Organization or KOPMA in 2013 period, Hanang Rizki E. F. That suggestion very affect my attitude in lead my organization. However I have to be careful in showing my attitude. I couldn't do careless activity in lead organization that have 400 members and have income 1.5 Billion/year. I try to give my best in my leadership for one year, while maintaining a balance between academic and organization activity.

I have been joining KOPMA since I enter ITS, 3.5 years ago. I have strong interest in entrepreneurship based cooperation, because actually all developed country use cooperation to raise their social economy, like Japan, Netherland, France, etc. My dream when I was in kindergarten is to make 1 dollar US equal with 1 rupiah, like Turkey now. I'm very sure that do organization activity in KOPMA is my way to realize my dream. KOPMA ITS have 5 business units to fulfill student need, from merchandise, laundry and dry clean, projector rental, dress convection, and minimarket located in ITS dormitory. In second year, I become staff of public relation and in third year I become director assistant of public relation too. Public relation really teach me to be good and effective public speaker, because they involve me to be master of ceremony in every KOPMA event. Also public relation teach me to be good negotiator, good marketer, and good listener. In fourth year I elected to be CEO with negotiation among all member of KOPMA ITS.

My job as CEO is work hard enough because minimarket in dormitory is closed because building renovation, therefore we lost 27.8% in income or approximately 420 million rupiah. I try to give all I have to overcome this problem, from intensive lobbying to head of dormitory committee, make a great business proposal, until relocate the location to the new place and starting from zero. When I face that problem, as a characteristic of blood A+ type, in beginning I have terrible worried that it will affect stability of my organization. But actually I was totally wrong, what I get is very valuable replacement. Because I must contact every people that related to the minimarket, I get information from ITS Business Incubator that State Minister of Youth and Sports have program to funded 20 Student Cooperation entire Indonesia with the amount of money 300 million rupiah. Therefore it can cover loss income of minimarket. What I get from this valuable experience is in every problem there is must be a solution. “So verily, with the hardship, there is relief. Verily, with the hardship, there is relief.” (Holy Quran Al-Inshirah 94:5-6).

I have finished my leadership in KOPMA in February 2015 ago. Much of success and achievement raised by my leadership, and also much of learning for me. I still contribute to KOPMA for being business supervisor, I control the performance of business department in KOPMA ITS to keep on track. I hope my contribution to cooperation in gaining social economy will never stop. Now, I welcome the challenge to broad my knowledge and my perspective in leadership for joining Young Leader for Indonesia programme.
